Organic fertilizer
In the course of a fact-finding trip in spring 2019, a fertilizer basin was built in Saba together with the local people. It enables the village to produce organic fertilizer itself so that it no longer has to rely on buying synthetic fertilizers. The raw materials used to produce the organic fertilizer are animal and plant waste from farming, water and a nutrient mixture. The tank is filled with these materials in layers, turning the layers at weekly intervals to speed up the decomposition process. After four weeks, the organic fertilizer is ready for removal. The people in the village are trained in the use of the fertilizer basin to create sustainable perspectives for agriculture.
